Veterinarian Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh of Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan Zoological Park told that the lioness Maryam has completed her age. The age of a lioness is maximum 18 years and Maryam is 20 years old. He told that due to high urm, his jaw is feeling less strong, due to which he is having difficulty in eating meat. That’s why he is being given soft foods. He told that due to being weak, his food has also become negligible.

Zoo administration engaged in the treatment of lioness Mariam

At present, efforts are being made to strengthen Maryam with vitamins and electrolytes from time to time. She should not face any kind of problem, that’s why Maryam is being treated in her yard only. Zoo doctor Yogesh Pratap Singh told that when Mariam was brought from Etawah Safari to Gorakhpur zoo 2 years ago, she had completed her age. But, due to extra precautions, he is still present in the zoo. He told that if the treatment of Maryam is done by keeping her in the hospital, then she will not get an open place. Which can have an effect on his health. At present, the zoo administration is engaged in the treatment of lioness Mariam.

Zoo administration will soon constitute an expert committee

Director Dr. H. Raja Mohan said that the zoo administration is taking full vigilance regarding Mary’s health. If needed, a team of senior doctors will be sent for treatment. Let us tell that a female hyena had given birth to a child a fortnight ago in the zoo. But, the child died last Sunday. The zoo administration will soon set up an expert committee to know how the child died. It is being told that prima facie the reason which is coming out is that the female hyena tried to give more protection to her child, due to which it died. But this reason is not coming down the throat of the zoo administration. To confirm this, the zoo administration is soon going to set up an expert committee team so that the correct information about the cause of death of the baby hyena can be found.
