Life disrupted due to continuous rain in Dhanbad, coal production affected, heavy rain for next two days

Incessant rains for the last five days have disrupted life. Houses collapsed at many places in Dhanbad due to torrential rains on Wednesday. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain on Thursday and Friday also. All the small and big rivers and streams of the district are in spate. The water level of Damodar and Barakar rivers has increased. The condition of rural roads is bad. Crops have been damaged. Many houses have been destroyed in Baghmara and Baliapur. In Jharia, the front part of the two-storey house of BJP leader and President of Marwari Conference Jharia Rajkumar Aggarwal collapsed. The water level of Maithon, Panchet Dam and Topchanchi Lake continues to rise. Here, in view of the possibility of heavy rain on Thursday and Friday, the district administration has come into alert mode.

The district administration has instructed to take special caution regarding the weather. On Wednesday, on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Collector cum Chief Executive Officer (District Disaster Management Authority) Vinod Kumar has asked the sub-divisional officers, all zonal officers and block development officers to be cautious regarding the weather. He said that the Meteorological Department has predicted the withdrawal of monsoon to remain active and heavy rains across the state for the next two-three days. Also, warnings have been issued regarding rain and heavy rain at some places in North-Eastern Jharkhand region. Dhanbad is a district located in north-eastern Jharkhand. In such a situation, people have been asked to be cautious to ensure that there is no loss of life or property due to heavy rains.

Coal India’s production and dispatch affected

Due to continuous rains, Coal India’s subsidiaries BCCL, ICL and CCL are on high alert. The risk of water logging in underground and open cast mines has increased. Reports are being sent to senior officials every hour from the headquarters of the three coal companies and from the control rooms operating at the area and colliery level. It is being said that due to heavy rains, more than 70 percent of coal production will be affected on Wednesday.

Hotel balcony collapses near Dhanbad station, three injured

Three people were injured when the balcony of Maa Kali Hotel next to the bus stand on Dhanbad Station Road fell. The condition of one of them remains critical. The incident occurred around 4.40 pm on Wednesday evening. Nearby shopkeepers and employees rescued three people buried under the debris and admitted them to SNMMCH for treatment.
