Latehar: Mother is raising two disabled children, not getting government facilities, money for widow pension is also being deducted

In Mahuadad of Latehar district, one such mother Tara Devi is taking care of her two disabled children. They are also not getting government help for the disabled. The case pertains to Jori village of Regain Panchayat of Mahuadad block.

Widow pension is also deducted in the bank

Tara Devi of Jori village has two children, one 12 year old Pankaj Kumar and the other 7 year old Kanika Kumari. Both the children are mentally ill. His father had died four years ago. Tara Devi tells that these children are not getting the government assistance that is available to the disabled people. At the same time, Tara Devi’s widow pension was started as government assistance, but that amount is deducted in lieu of agricultural loan.

Tara Devi appealed to the district administration for help

Actually, Tara’s husband had taken an agricultural loan before his death. Due to the money being spent in her husband’s illness, the land of her forefathers has also been mortgaged, she is somehow managing the household with half of the produce by cultivating the same land. Tara Devi has appealed to the block and district administration to provide assistance to her children as per the government provision, so that the children can be brought up properly.

Same condition of other Divyangs in Regai Panchayat

Dilip Bada of Kenatoli village of Regai Panchayat is also mentally handicapped, his mother keeps him tied with a rope throughout the day. Alan Bada, an 8-year-old son of Dilip Bada, also cannot walk due to disability. For his safety, the child’s mother keeps Dilip Bada tied with a rope throughout the day. They have also demanded the district administration to provide assistance to the disabled as per the government provisions.
