Land Rover’s BABY Defender will be launched by 2027, know what is its specialty?

The new EMA platform allows JLR to introduce models with hybrid powertrains or develop full-electric versions of them at a later stage. The smaller Defender will be built at the automaker’s Halewood factory along with three electric SUVs and will make its global debut in 2027. Interestingly, the current Defender lineup is based on the MLA architecture, which will also underpin the all-electric derivative of the off-roading SUV that is slated to hit the roads by 2026.

The “Go Anywhere Attitude” Will Remain Intact

The smaller Defender based on the EMA platform is expected to measure around 4.6 meters long and 2 meters wide and less than 1.8 meters tall. Despite its compact dimensions, the Baby Defender will retain the “Go Anywhere Attitude” of its larger counterpart. Smaller defenders may also adopt the nickname ‘Defender Sport’. It is believed to take styling inspiration from its bigger siblings like squared off lower part, thick body cladding and strong panels to highlight the SUV’s sturdiness.
