Kolkata Metro: The country’s first in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal metro rail The wheels of (Metro Rail) had turned. This eco-friendly vehicle, which started 40 years ago, has spread to many parts of the city. Although metro services were introduced much later in various cities outside Bengal, the use of the latest technology began earlier in other states. It took four decades to implement it in Kolkata Metro. Automatic Train Operation (ATO) or driverless metro is running successfully in many cities of the country. From today, its official launch is being done on the Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector-5 route of East-West Metro.

In East-West Metro Line Is automatic signaling system

Kolkata Metro’s first driverless metro will start running carrying passengers today. The East-West Metro line has an automatic signaling system. Through which all the activities of the metro rake can be easily controlled from the control room. In such a situation, the rake filled with passengers will be able to reach the destination without a driver. Currently the East-West Metro provides service on the Sealdah-Sector 5 route at an interval of 20 minutes. With this also enabled, the time interval will be reduced by 2 to 3 minutes.

Mamata Banerjee: Mamata Banerjee warned, there is a possibility of unrest in the state on Ramnavmi, ‘do not be provoked’

Even if metro service is started initially, the drivers will remain at their places.

It is noteworthy that after the end of passenger service on this route for a few months, the Railways had started the process of operating with empty rakes on an experimental basis. This has been completed successfully. In this regard, Kolkata Metro General Manager P Udayakumar Reddy had already informed that even if the metro train can be run automatically, the driver will remain in the head train cabin for the passengers. According to him, this matter is completely new for the passengers of Kolkata, hence there may be some apprehensions in the minds of the passengers regarding the driverless metro rake. Therefore, even if the metro service is initially started in this mode, the drivers will remain at their places. But he will have no role.

Mamata Banerjee: Mamata Banerjee said, ‘Modi’s guarantee’ means putting all opposition leaders behind bars.

The new system will further increase passenger convenience

The top Metro official also indicated that the decision may be changed later once passengers get used to the system. The new system will further increase passenger convenience because the interval of metro service between Sealdah-Sector 5 will be 17 minutes instead of 20 minutes from today. At the same time, the interval of metro service between Sector 5 and Sealdah will be 18 minutes instead of 20 minutes. The schedule of the first and last metro services of the day will remain unchanged. The first metro of the day will depart from Sealdah and Sector 5 metro stations at 6:55 am and 7:00 am respectively. The last metro of the day will depart from the respective border stations at 9:35 and 9:40 respectively.
