Surendrapal Singh TT is going to contest elections from Karanpur seat on January 5.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated the former minister contesting from Karanpur seat. Surendrapal Singh TT Was included in the Council of Ministers on Saturday. Voting on this seat is to be held on January 5. Governor Kalraj Mishra administered the oath of office and secrecy to the MLAs and Surendrapal Singh TT at Raj Bhavan.

Election on Karanpur Ganganagar seat was postponed due to the death of Gurmeet Singh Kunnar.

Voting was held on November 25 for 199 out of 200 assembly seats in the state. Its result was declared on December 3. The election on Karanpur Ganganagar seat was postponed due to the death of Congress candidate and then MLA Gurmeet Singh Kunnar. Voting on this seat will now take place on January 5. Counting of votes will take place on January 8. Former minister Surendrapal is the candidate from BJP on this seat while Congress has fielded Kunnar’s son Rupinder Singh. There are a total of 249 polling stations in Karanpur assembly constituency. Till December 6, there were 2 lakh 40826 voters here.

Congress criticized the appointment of Surendrapal Singh as minister.

Congress party has criticized BJP for this. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that this shows the arrogance of the BJP high command. Gehlot wrote on ‘X’, despite the code of conduct being effective for the voting to be held on January 5 in Karanpur, making the BJP candidate a minister from there is a clear violation of the code of conduct and an attempt to influence the voters there. The Election Commission should take cognizance of this and take immediate action.

Sachin Pilot also criticized BJP

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot also raised this issue. He posted on ‘X’, but BJP has done the work of luring the voters of Karanpur by giving ministerial post to its candidate amidst the code of conduct. The self-respecting people of Karanpur are understanding the politics behind this undemocratic and indecent step. The Election Commission should take cognizance of this matter and take appropriate action.

BJP leader Rajendra Rathore defended the party’s decision

On behalf of BJP, former leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore, while defending his party’s decision, said that the oath taken by TT as Minister of State is in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution. He posted on ‘X’, under the provisions contained in Article 164 (4) of the Constitution, any person has the right to hold the post of minister for 6 months without being elected. According to this constitutional provision, any person can be administered the oath of office by His Excellency the Governor on the advice of the Chief Minister. After that, it is necessary for him to get elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly within 6 months.
