Actually, the Additional Chief Secretary has asked for this information in the context of the first phase competency examination of employed teachers starting from 26th February.
2 lakh teachers appointed in two phases
In the letter issued by KK Pathak, it has been said that a large number of about 2 lakh teachers have been appointed by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) in two phases (TRE 1 and TRE 2). Of these, there are about 35 thousand such teachers who were earlier employed teachers. Due to these employed teachers being selected in the examination conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission, vacancies have arisen in schools of many districts.
Shortage of teachers in urban area schools
Additional Chief Secretary said that the teachers selected in both the phases of BPSC have been posted only in rural areas and not in urban areas. There are many schools in urban areas where there is a shortage of teachers after the selection of teachers employed by Bihar Public Service Commission.
KK Pathak asked for information about vacancies
KK Pathak has asked all DMs to assess the availability of teachers in schools in urban areas of their district and inform the education department about the vacancies in urban areas. While making the assessment, it has also been asked to keep in mind the enrollment of students in schools. It was also said that in secondary and higher secondary schools, a teacher for every subject should be available in the school, irrespective of the number of children enrolled.

KK Pathak further said that the first phase of the competency test of employed teachers is starting from 26 February 2024. In this sequence, it has been made clear that teachers passing this competency test will be posted in urban areas only on the basis of merit list. He has asked all DMs to compulsorily provide the rationalization proposal related to teachers in schools in urban areas to the department by 29th February.
