letter went viral

It is noteworthy that Indian Administrative Service officer KK Pathak is on earned leave these days. There is a lot of speculation going on about his going on leave. Meanwhile, KK Pathak’s resignation letter went viral and his resignation started being discussed everywhere.

Why is Form 202 filled?

Let us tell you that under Schedule No. 53 of the Code made by Bihar Government for the functioning of officers, an officer posted on an important post has to fill Form No. 202 before going on long leave. Filling Form 202 means that the officer has left the post for the period of leave. This is done so that the decisions taken at the level of their post can be taken without any hindrance during the period of leave.

Why did KK Pathak abdicate?

In fact, whenever KK Pathak went on leave, Vaidyanath Yadav was given the additional charge of handling the routine work of the department. He could not take policy decisions taken at the level of Additional Chief Secretary. But this time KK Pathak has gone on long leave till 16th January due to health reasons. In such a situation, Vaidyanath Yadav could also take the policy decisions taken from the level of his position, hence he resigned from the post.

Why was abandonment necessary?

This was also necessary because on January 13, about 1.25 lakh teachers appointed in the second phase are to be given appointment letters. In such a situation, there will be many such tasks which will have to be done from the level of Additional Chief Secretary. But this work could not be done as KK Pathak was on leave. In such a situation, KK Pathak resigned from the post and Vaidyanath Yadav was given the charge. Now KK Pathak will start working again on January 16 or whenever he returns from leave by filling a form to take over the post.
