The district police has started a campaign to destroy opium crops. Wherever there is information about opium crop, the police is destroying the crop. Under this, about one acre of crops in Kasira of Karra block were destroyed on Tuesday. In Kasira, villagers had planted opium in the fields adjacent to the forest. The police destroyed the crop on the basis of secret information. On the other hand, in Gumpudu of Murhu police station area, the police made the villagers aware about the illegal opium crop. After being made aware by the police, the villagers themselves destroyed the opium crop. After which the opium crop grown in about two acres was destroyed by plowing it with a tractor. The villagers also decided to never plant opium in future.
