A religious advisor to the UK government has spoken of threats and intimidation of Sikh communities in Britain by Khalistani elements. Colin Bloom, an independent religious affairs advisor appointed by the UK government, has made revelations and concerns about the Sikh community in the UK. At the same time, Bloom pointed out that the activities of certain individuals and organizations are clearly fueling sectarian and anti-Muslim sentiment, as well as legitimizing discriminatory and unfair practices.”

Bloom said Khalistani supporters associate themselves with mainstream Sikh communities but “most see their intimidation and subversive methods as at variance with the core tenets of Sikhism.” Respondents belonging to the British Sikh community warned the government that the UK would “turn a blind eye to religious extremism” as a result of not separating the extremist agenda of subversion from mainstream Sikh communities.
