Kanpur: UPCA will have to pay Rs 10.31 crore for UP T-20 League, report sought from Deputy Director of Green Park

Kanpur News: Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) may have to pay Rs 10.31 crore for organizing the UP T-20 League in Green Park in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The government has asked the Sports Directorate the reason for giving 50 percent fee exemption. Other details including ticket sales have been sought. After this, the Sports Directorate has called for a complete report from the Green Park administration. UPCA had organized the UP T-20 League in Green Park from 29th August. Six teams from UP participated in it. UPCA has to pay an amount of Rs 25 lakh to the Sports Directorate per match in Green Park. According to that, UPCA had to pay Rs 10.31 crore to the Sports Department, which was not given. UPCA CEO Ankit Chatterjee had sought 50 percent rebate in match fees from the government. Three months have passed since the league ended and now the administration has become active. The government has sent a letter to the Sports Directorate asking for consent to conduct T-20. Other information including ticket sales and broadcast has also been sought.

The competition is completely commercial

The government accepted that it is not right to give maximum relaxation of 50 percent. According to UPCA, this event held in Green Park, Kanpur, did not receive any financial assistance from BCCI like IPL. Besides this, tickets were also not sold. And no money was taken for broadcasting also. There was no income in any other way. On the other hand, according to the officials, this cannot be accepted, whereas the competition was completely commercial. Therefore, complete details of expenses, tickets and sponsors should be given. Also tell from which sources the income came.
