Kanpur IIT: Professor dies in Kanpur IIT, suddenly collapsed during speech on stage

Kanpur: IIT Kanpur, UP (IIT Kanpur) Professor Sameer Khandekar died of heart attack on Friday. He was speaking on the stage during the alumni meet in the IIT campus itself, during which he fell on the stage itself. When he did not get up for some time, there was a stir in the program. He was picked up by the people and taken to Hallett Hospital. Where the doctors declared him dead.

Pro. Sameer Khandekar was Senior Scientist and Dean Student Affairs of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kanpur. 55 year old Prof. Sameer was presenting his views on health in the IIT alumni meet. During this time he had a heart attack. It is being told that he is survived by his wife and son Pravah Khandekar. Pravah is studying in Cambridge University. He has been informed about his father’s demise. After the arrival of the son, Prof. Sameer’s last rites will take place.

According to information received from IIT, Prof. Sameer Khandekar was born on 10 November 1971 in Jabalpur. Did B.Tech from IIT Kanpur in the year 2000. After this he did PhD from Germany. In 2004, he was appointed as Assistant Professor in IIT Kanpur. In 2023, he was made Dean Student Affairs. Pro. Khandekar has 8 patents in his name.
