Congress has made major changes in its Madhya Pradesh unit after the defeat in the recent assembly elections. Party former Chief Minister Kamalnath Has been removed from the post of state president and in his place former minister Jitu Patwari has been appointed as the new president of the state unit. It is being told that Jitu Patwari is close to Rahul Gandhi.
Umang Singhar Leader of Opposition of Madhya Pradesh
According to the release issued by the party’s Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal, former minister Umang Singhar has been appointed the leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Madhya Pradesh and Hemant Katare as the deputy leader.

Charan Das Mahant will be the new leader of opposition of Chhattisgarh
Senior Congress MLA and former Speaker of the State Assembly Charan Das Mahant will be the leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Chhattisgarh. The party high command approved his appointment on Saturday. According to the release shared by the state unit of Congress, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the proposal of appointment of Mahant as the leader of the party’s legislature party in Chhattisgarh.

Kharge has also approved the proposal to keep Deepak Baij as the President of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee. This release was issued by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal.
BJP gave a crushing defeat to Congress in Chhattisgarh.
Congress has faced defeat in Chhattisgarh assembly elections. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power by winning 54 out of 90 seats. Congress, which had won 68 seats in the state in 2018, was reduced to 35 seats. Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) managed to win one seat. In a meeting of newly elected Congress MLAs in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, a resolution was passed unanimously, according to which the MLAs had given party president Kharge the right to elect the leader of the legislative party in the state.
