Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is stranded in India. Actually, the G-20 summit was organized in India which ended on Sunday itself. After this event, all the guests including Joe Biden, Rishi Sunak, Emmanuel Macron have returned, but the Canadian PM is still in Delhi. The reason for this is not any bilateral talks but the breakdown of the plane.
Canada’s statement has come out in this regard. Canada has said that the earliest possible departure of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his delegation from the national capital Delhi is by Tuesday afternoon and the country’s armed forces are continuing their best efforts to bring them back home.
Let us tell you that Justin Trudeau had reached Delhi on Friday to participate in the G20 summit. He was to leave for home on Sunday, but it has been delayed due to a technical fault in his plane. Earlier, a source had said that another plane is being arranged for Trudeau, which is likely to arrive around 10 pm on Monday night.
The Canadian Prime Minister’s Office said in an e-mail to PTI that the Canadian Armed Forces are continuing their best efforts to bring the delegation home. Press Secretary Mohammad Hussain said in the statement that we are keeping an eye on the situation. He can leave for Canada by Tuesday afternoon.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his meeting with his Canadian counterpart, had expressed ‘serious concern’ about the continued ‘anti-India activities’ by extremist elements in Canada and said it is necessary for both the countries to cooperate in dealing with such threats. Let us tell you that relations between India and Canada have seen a decline, Ottawa recently suspended negotiations on a trade treaty with New Delhi.
Meanwhile, politics has also intensified in Canada. The statement of Pierre Poilievre, leader of Canada’s opposition Conservative Party, has come to light. He said that now PM Trudeau must have known what happens when a plane breaks down and a flight gets delayed. This is similar to the way they harassed Canadians by disrupting the operations of airports.
