Reliance Jio on Friday launched India’s first satellite-based Giga Fiber service to provide high-speed broadband services to remote areas of the country. Jio on Friday introduced its new satellite-based broadband ‘Jio Space Fiber’ at the IIA Mobile Congress. ‘Geo Space Fiber’ is a satellite-based giga fiber technology, which will provide connectivity in remote areas where broadband connectivity is not possible through fiber cable. Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited Chairman Akash Ambani told Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Jio’s indigenous technology and products including Jio Space Fiber at the Jio Pavilion.
Target to reach far flung areas through Geo Space Fiber
Akash Ambani said, Jio made millions of homes and businesses in India experience broadband internet for the first time. With Jio Space Fiber we want to provide access to those who are currently deprived of it. In a statement issued by the company, it was said that Jio currently provides high-speed broadband fixed line and wireless services to more than 45 crore Indian consumers. With the aim of providing digital access equally to every home in India, Jio has now added Jio Space Fiber to its broadband services Jio Fiber and Jio Air Fiber. This service will be available across the country at extremely affordable prices.
Four most remote places connected by Geo Space Fiber
According to the information, four most remote places of India have been connected by Geo Space Fiber. These include Gir National Park of Gujarat, Korba of Chhattisgarh, Nabarangpur of Odisha and ONGC-Jorhat of Assam. SES company’s satellites will be used to provide broadband connectivity to remote areas through Jio ‘Jio Space Fiber’. That means ‘Jio Space Fiber’ will now provide reliable multi-gigabit connectivity anywhere and anytime. ‘Jeo Space Fiber’ will use new and advanced NGSO technology to deliver satellite-based internet services in challenging areas.
Partnership with SES
Jio is partnering with SES, the only MEO constellation, to access the world’s latest medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellite technology. It is capable of providing truly unique gigabit, fiber-like services from space. John-Paul Hemingway, Chief Strategy Officer, SES, said, we are honored to support the Government of India’s Digital India initiative with a unique solution together with Jio.
