Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has said that the group’s online streaming platform Jio Cinema has now become the largest digital entertainment platform in the country.
Addressing the annual general meeting of shareholders of the company, Ambani said that during the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament, 450 million viewers watched the matches on the stage of Jio Cinema. It offered to watch matches during the IPL for free on the platform.
Ambani said, Jio Cinema has now become the country’s largest digital entertainment platform offering hit movies, OTT-focused programs, reality shows and exclusive content from global studios such as HBO and NBCU.
He said that Reliance’s media business, Network18, has also made great progress on its way to becoming the country’s top news network. He said, it is having deep penetration at the local level and its scope is increasing at the international level.
On this occasion, Jio Business Head Akash Ambani said that Jio Cinema has changed the way of watching live broadcast programs with new features.
