Jharkhand’s weather will change again, chances of rain and thunderstorms

The weather of Jharkhand is about to take a turn again. There was strong sunlight since morning, due to which people were feeling hot. But, on Sunday (March 31), light rain with thunderstorms is expected at some places. Thunderstorms may also occur. This information has been given by the Meteorological Department.

Trough formed in Bay of Bengal passing through Jharkhand

Meteorologist Abhishek Anand of Ranchi-based weather center of India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that a trough is forming from East Bihar to the Bay of Bengal, which is passing through Jharkhand and West Bengal. Due to its effect, rain with strong winds is expected in Jharkhand on Sunday as well, like late Saturday night.

Maximum temperature declined in all districts except Bokaro

After the rain late on Saturday night, there has been a slight drop in the maximum temperature in most of the districts except Bokaro. Talking about the last 24 hours, the highest temperature in the capital Ranchi has dropped by 0.3 degree centigrade. The highest temperatures of Jamshedpur and Daltenganj have recorded a drop of 0.5 and 0.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

However, there has been a significant increase in the minimum temperature in all these districts. Talking about the weather of Ranchi, the minimum temperature here has increased by 1 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature of Jamshedpur has increased by 3.8 degrees, Daltenganj by 0.8 degrees, Bokaro by 4.6 degrees and Chaibasa by 2.5 degrees Celsius.

Thunder and rain with strong wind, power system disrupted

It would be relevant to mention here that late Saturday night in the capital Ranchi, due to strong wind, thunder and rain, the city’s electricity system collapsed. During the storm, all 33 KVA power substations connected to the grid reduced the demand to almost zero at 11:23 pm as a precautionary measure. All 33 KVA lines except Kanke-Harmu HT line from 132 KVA Hatia grid were tripped. For about half an hour the demand reduced to just three MW instead of 120 MW.

Electricity tripped from 33 KVA Bobro substation.

Same was the condition of Kanke 132 KV grid, here power tripped from 33 KVA Kanke and 33 KVA Bobro substation. At the remaining places, the supply remained zero with a safety message being given to the grid. As soon as the wind blew, power supply came to a halt in more than half the areas. At some places due to line break down and at some places due to falling of a tree branch on the wire, the electricity lost around 12 o’clock in the night could not be restored till late night.

Power supply disrupted from all 33 KV grid substations

After 11:30 pm, power supply from Namkum and Hatia grids and all 33 KV grid substations was disrupted. Till the time of writing the news, electricity remained disrupted in big areas like Lalpur, Sector 2, Vikas to Main Road, Hindpiri, Bada Talab. However, the electrical workers inside the substation were monitoring the situation through SCADA system and the damage was being detected by patrolling the localities.

33 KV line was disconnected from the grid, electricity remained disrupted for hours

In many areas, the wind accompanied by thunder was so strong that the entire capital lost electricity for some time. Bad weather also affected the grids. A large part of the city remained without electricity due to 33 KV supply trip from both Namkum and Hatia grids. During the rains, maximum faults were recorded in 11 KV UG cables. Due to this, electricity remained disrupted for seven hours in Ratu Road, Piska Mod, Khelgaon, Kishoreganj, Keshav Nagar, Lime Kiln, Kumhar Toli, New Madhukam, Khadgarha, Mahua Toli, Jaiprakash Nagar and surrounding areas.
