Gumla, Durjay Paswan: Priyanka Devi (27 years), wife of Airavat Kumar, resident of Kodekera village under Kamdara police station under Gumla district, died after consuming insecticide. Airavat is the assistant teacher of State Upgraded Mavi Kodekera. After Priyanka’s death, the relatives of the deceased have accused Airavatad and his family members of assaulting Priyanka for dowry and forcing her to consume poison.
Fed up with family, consumed insecticide
According to information, Priyanka Devi consumed insecticide on Friday evening after being fed up with her husband and his family. After this, the neighbors took Priyanka to the Kamdara police station. Where she fainted because of her fard statement. After which he was admitted to the Referral Hospital, Basia by the police personnel. Where his treatment started. But, after his health deteriorated on Saturday, he was referred to Sadar Hospital Gumla by Referral Hospital Basia on Saturday evening. Where he died during treatment at 12.30 am on Sunday. Here, when Airavat Kumar reached the hospital on the information of Priyanka’s death, the relatives of the deceased surrounded him. The deceased has two children.
Gumla police recorded statement
The hospital management informed the Gumla police about Priyanka’s death. After this, SI Dilip Tudu of Gumla Police Station made the body’s panchnama and handed it over to the family members after getting the post-mortem done. A written application from the parents and the statement of the husband of the deceased was penned and forwarded to the Kamdara police station. The parents of the deceased have filed a written complaint against Priyanka’s husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law and Nandoi for killing her daughter.
My sister was forcibly fed poison: Brother
Devendra Prasad Sahu, a resident of Ningni village of Lohardaga district, has said that his sister Priyanka Devi was married on March 1, 2012. Within a year, his sister was tortured physically and mentally by her in-laws for dowry. His sister was repeatedly beaten up for not giving dowry. In this regard, Panchayati was also held several times in the village and at home. Where her husband was told not to do so. But the boy and his family did not agree to this and on August 18, due to dowry, he beat up his sister and forced her to drink insecticide and killed her.
Kamdara police did not show promptness
Relatives say that after Priyanka was poisoned, the neighbors took her to the Kamdara police station for help. But, even after consuming poison, Priyanka was interrogated by sitting in Kamdara police station. When Priyanka fainted, she was taken to the hospital by the police. Now the question is that if Priyanka was really made to sit in the police station after consuming poison, then it should also be investigated. Which police officer, even after consuming poison, instead of getting treatment, consider taking statement as the first duty.

Further action will be taken after investigation. He has said that the victim did not come to Kamdara police station after consuming poison. He was directly admitted to the referral hospital by the neighbors. From where he was referred to Gumla. Where he died during treatment.
