Jharkhand Weather Update: Storm and water caused huge destruction in Godda district. Normal life was badly affected due to the storm. Along with the storm, there was heavy rain late in the night. Winds blew at high speed across the district. According to the Meteorological Department, winds were blowing at a maximum speed of 96 kmph. The normal speed recorded was 40-42 kmph. There has been heavy destruction in the district due to storm and rain. Hundreds of poles were damaged in the entire district due to the storm. At many places, trees and tree branches fell on the electric wires, due to which many electric poles and wires were badly damaged. There was no electricity. Without electricity, the residents of the city remained troubled throughout the day and struggled with the heat.

Electricity not restored in many localities till late evening

Repair work of wires and electric poles was done on a war footing. Since morning, the workers of the electricity department were busy in repairing the damaged wires and poles. Due to the storm, both the circuits of the 33 KV wire grid connecting Gandhigram Shripur to the district headquarters failed. However, by afternoon a 33 KV circuit was restored. Due to this, power supply was restored in many parts of the city. After the repair of 33 KV, the personnel of the department were troubled throughout the day to repair 11 KV. Due to the fault, electricity could not be restored in many localities till late evening.

There was more destruction in Sunderpahari

Trees fell on high tension electric wires at half a dozen places in the city. The department had to sweat to remove it as well. Workers were busy on Thursday night to restore power. According to the assistant engineer cum SDO of the department Lalji Mahto, hundreds of poles and wires have been damaged in the entire district. There has been a lot of destruction in Sundarpahari. Many poles and wires were also damaged towards the collectorate of the district. The electricity department is engaged in repairs on the collectorate road. Told that according to an estimate, the department has suffered a loss of about Rs 12-15 lakh due to storm water.

Heavy rain with strong wind, mango crop ruined

Along with strong wind, there was heavy rain in the district. Due to this the weather remained more or less pleasant on the second day. According to the Meteorological Department, there has been good rainfall in the district on Thursday. A total of 30 mm has been recorded. At the same time, the mango crop has suffered the most due to the storm. Many quintals of mangoes fell due to the storm, due to which the farmers had to suffer. In the district headquarters itself, mangoes hanging in most of the gardens fell. Along with this, mango trees also fell. Farmers have suffered a lot due to this. However, the moong crop has benefited from this. The moong crop has got better cover. Rajneesh Rajesh of the Meteorological Department told that a turf line has formed between the states of Bihar and Chhattisgarh. Its effect was seen in Jharkhand. In Santal Pargana, there has been rain and storm in Godda including Dumka. Told that its effect will remain for three to four more days.
