Jharkhand: Villagers united against militants in Gumla

Gumla: The villagers of Duko Sikwar village of Ghaghra block of Gumla district have united against the TSPC militants and taken up arms. Also, the construction work of the closed bridge was started. The villagers have warned the militants that if they obstruct the development work of the village, they will chase and beat them. In fact, TSPC militants had stopped the construction work of the bridge being built on Koel river at a cost of Rs 6 crore on Thursday evening.

Also, the workers were held hostage for an hour. The militants said that the construction work would not start until the levy amount was received. When the villagers came to know about this incident on Friday, people were called to gather at the bridge construction site on Saturday by playing Dugdugi in the entire village. On Saturday, hundreds of people gathered with traditional weapons including tangi, sword, sandalwood, hasuwa, bow and arrow, sticks etc. The villagers met and decided that they themselves would fight the militants for the development of their village.

He said that people from half a dozen neighboring villages are with him. The villagers have warned that if any extremist organization or anti-social elements create obstacles in the development of the village, they will be given a befitting reply. The villagers said that now it is our responsibility to complete the bridge construction work. The bridge construction work will be completed while providing complete safety to the people working there. After this, the construction work of the bridge was started in front of the villagers.

TSPC militants left leaflets

People of TSPC militant organization had reached the bridge construction site late on Thursday evening demanding the levy. Some laborers were working at that time. The number of militants was five. First the militants took all the workers hostage. After this, while handing over the form, it has been said that the work on the bridge will remain closed until the levy amount is received. Here, the police reached the spot and recovered the form.
