Martyrdom Day of Paramveer Abdul Hameed was celebrated by the social organization Shoshana Mukti Vahini on 10th September in front of Abdul Hameed Chowk in Jaridih. President of the organization Munna Singh said that this year a tribute meeting was organized under the program ‘A Voice Against the Politics of Hate’. Apart from the public representatives of the area, many dignitaries participated in the program. He said that the seeds of hatred being sown in the country are the result of incidents like Manipur and Haryana. People of peace-loving and progressive ideology from Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian and other sects will come forward and meet each other and spread the message of love from house to house, only then the Constitution and pride of the country will be safe.

This day was the day of martyrdom of Paramvir Chakra winner Abdul Hameed. The whole of India bows before the martyrdom of brave Abdul Hameed. People do not forget to bow to the soil where Veer Hameed was born. Paramvir Chakra winner Abdul Hameed was born on 1 July 1933 in Dhamupura village of Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. He was the eldest of the two sons of father Usman and mother Sakina. The news of Hameed’s bravery and his martyrdom was not just a news for the villagers but there was a mixed feeling of pride and sorrow in front of them. Socialist leader Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia had reached Dhamupura village to meet Veer Hameed’s wife Rasoolan Bibi and paid obeisance to that soil. After continuous pressure from the villagers, the formalities of renaming this village as Hameed Dham were completed on 5 March 1999.

Rasoolan Bibi, wife of Shaheed Hameed, was an inspiring woman. He breathed his last on 2 August 2019 at his residence. Veer Abdul Hameed has four sons. The name of the elder son is Zainul Hasan, the name of the middle one is Ali Hasan, the name of the youngest son is Zainud Alam and the name of the youngest son is Tahat Mahmood. They also have a daughter, whose name is Nazboon Ninsha. Talat Mahmood, younger son of Shaheed Hameed, retired from the post of security guard in the year 2018 from B&K area of ​​CCL located in Bermo. In the year 1999, Rasoolan Bibi, wife of martyr Hameed, had to face humiliation in Bermo when she was accused of conspiring to murder her younger son Talat Mahmood, who was a fellow security guard. She had gone to Tenughat Upkara to meet him. The treatment meted out to the wife of a Paramvir Chakra winner in Tenughat cannot even be imagined. Standing in the scorching heat at the main gate of Tenughat Upkara, Rasool Bibi was not allowed to meet her son until she agreed to pay ten rupees as tribute. Later, Subodh Singh Pawar, patron of journalist cum social organization Shoshit Mukti Vahini, honored him by bringing him to Bermo. Since that time, every year on 10 September, Martyr Abdul Hameed is remembered with reverence by organizing a ceremony to atone for the insult done to Shomuwa Rasoolan Bibi in Upkara.

From 1954 to 1965, Abdul Hameed served as Havildar in the Fourth Battalion of the Infantry Indian Army. In the year 1966, on the occasion of Republic Day, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan honored Hameed with the Paramvir Chakra after his death and gave this award to his wife Rasoolan Bibi. In the year 1988, film director Chetan Anand made the serial Paramveer Chakra, in which actor Naseeruddin Shah played the role of Parmeer Abdul Hameed.
