Jharkhand News: In the hostel of RIMS, two groups of medical students created a ruckus late on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. After a dispute during the birthday party, a fight started here, after which a group of students entered the director’s residence and started banging the doors and windows. Frightened, the director made a phone call and called senior doctors, after which the matter was pacified.

Here, a meeting of the Student and Welfare Committee was held under the chairmanship of the Dean on Wednesday morning regarding this matter. It was decided that in view of continuous fighting and indiscipline between senior and junior students, RIMS Hostel (MBBS and Dental both) will be vacated for 15 days. Students will take all their belongings with them while leaving the room. After 15 days, the process of room allotment will start afresh.
Students will get hostel only after affidavit
The committee has also decided that when the students come to stay in the hostel again, they will have to bring their own and their parent’s or guardian’s affidavit along with them. It should be clearly written in the affidavit that the student will not fight again or indulge in any kind of indiscipline. If he is found involved in such incidents again, legal action will be taken against him. The committee has sent its decision as a recommendation to Director Dr. Rajeev Kumar Gupta. Apart from this, the committee has also issued notices to the 29 students who were assaulted on July 7 and directed them to appear on July 21 with an affidavit.

It is alleged that an era of alcohol was also going on in it. Meanwhile the seniors reached there. Due to some old dispute, PG doctors and JDA officials dominated the junior doctors. After this there was fierce fighting on both sides. Meanwhile, a group of junior doctors barged into the director’s residence to rescue him and started banging on the door and window. Monu Kumar, Arpit Kumar and Rana Priyanshu Raj, junior students of the year 2020 batch, have made a written complaint to the management regarding this matter. It has been told that on the night of July 18, the seniors thrashed him in the room over an old dispute. Instead of rescuing them, JDA officials were supporting the seniors.
Students are tarnishing the image of RIMS: Dean
In this regard, Dr. Vidyapati, Dean of RIMS said that the students are tarnishing the image of RIMS by frequent fighting and late night partying. An emergency meeting of the committee was called, in which a decision has been taken to vacate the hostel. Hostel rooms will be allotted afresh, in which the process will be completed in 15-15 days.
