Jharkhand: Second bench will hear CBI’s petition to increase the sentence of fodder scam convict Lalu Prasad.

Ranchi, Rana Pratap: Jharkhand High Court convicted former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo in fodder scam. Lalu Prasad Partial hearing was held on Thursday on the petition filed for increasing the punishment of others. The division bench of Justice Ratnakar Bhengra and Justice Ambuj Nath refused to hear the case and directed to transfer it to another competent bench. This case is related to illegal withdrawal from Deoghar treasury. CBI has demanded to increase the sentence of six convicts including Lalu Prasad in this case. In this case, Lalu Prasad has been sentenced to three and a half years by the special CBI court. Out of the six convicted, three including Phoolchand Singh, RK Rana have passed away.

Demand to increase punishment from High Court

It is noteworthy that a petition has been filed on behalf of the applicant CBI demanding increase in the sentence of six convicts including Lalu Prasad in the case related to illegal withdrawal from the Deoghar treasury of the fodder scam. In the case of illegal withdrawal from Deoghar treasury, the special CBI court has sentenced six accused including Lalu Prasad, Beck Julius, Subir Bhattacharya to three to six years of imprisonment. CBI has demanded maximum punishment.

Demand for punishment up to seven years

Let us tell you that former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, convicted in the fodder scam case, has been sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment. He should be punished up to seven years. Out of the six, three convicts including Phoolchand Singh, RK Rana have passed away.
