Ranchi: Former DC of Ranchi and Director of Social Welfare Department Chhavi Ranjan appeared in the zonal office of Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday. He reached the ED office at around half past one in the morning. ED officials interrogated him till around nine o’clock in the night. In this way, he was interrogated for about 10 hours. IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan was summoned and asked to attend the ED office on April 21, but he did not turn up. After this he was directed to appear on 24 April. Raids were conducted in the case of sale and purchase of land by falsifying the documents. After this, ED had sent summons to him for questioning.
Chhavi Ranjan questioned for 10 hours
On 13 April 2023, ED raided 21 locations of 18 people including IAS Chhavi Ranjan. Under the ambit of this raid, former DC of Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan, land dealer, circle officer and workers of Badgai circle had come. After this, he was called for questioning by sending summons. In this sequence, today on Monday, he appeared in the ED office and the ED officials questioned him regarding the matter of rigging the land documents. ED officials interrogated him for about 10 hours.
Attended the ED office on the third summons
The ED issued summons and called former DC Chhavi Ranjan of Ranchi on April 21, but he did not turn up. Giving information about being on paternity leave till May 1 through the lawyer, the ED was requested to give time till the first week of May. Rejecting the request, the ED issued a notice to Chhavi Ranjan to appear at 4 pm on Friday itself. On being told by the lawyer that it is not possible for Chhavi Ranjan to come as he is out of town. After this, the ED issued summons to appear on April 24 at 11 am.
