Jharkhand: Preparation for plantation on 4.40 lakh hectare land in Gumla, bamboo plants will be planted to stop elephants

Gumla, Jagarnath Paswan: Plantation will be done on about 4.40 lakh hectare land in Gumla district. The work of tree plantation will be done by Forest Division Gumla. The Forest Department has completed its preparation. According to the information received from the Forest Divisional Office, about 4.32 lakh trees will be planted on 4.40 lakh hectare land. The site has been marked for tree plantation. Mainly under the notified forest land, tree plantation will be done on the edge and middle of the forest, flat ground, state highway and national highway, banks of ponds and rivers and school premises.

Villagers will get employment

Under the notified forest land, the work of tree plantation will be done by the local villagers on the edge of the forest, along the plain ground in the middle of the forest, along the State Highway and National Highway and on the banks of ponds and rivers, so that they can get employment at the local level. At the same time, what types of trees will be planted in the tree plantation. This has also been selected by the department. Trees of wild species, Jackfruit, Peepal, Bar, Sal, Teak, Asan, Gulmohar and other trees will be planted.

Jackfruit and Peepal for the birds, then bamboo will be planted to prevent elephants from entering the village

Keeping the birds in mind, jackfruit and peepal trees will be planted for them. Bamboo will be planted to prevent wild elephants from moving towards the villages. Many times it has happened that elephants turn towards the villages after coming out of the forest. Due to which there is loss of life and property in the villages. For the purpose of its diagnosis, bamboo will be planted on the banks of the forests. On the other hand, plantation of wild species will be done on the edge of the forest, in the middle of the forest and in the flat ground. Especially trees of woody species like Sal, Sagawan, Asan will be planted.

There will be plantation of mango, jackfruit and ber

Forest produce is also one of the main means of income for the people of the villages adjacent to the forest. Keeping this in mind, plantation of mango, jackfruit and ber will be done. Similarly, plantation of flowering trees including Gulmohar and other woody species will be done on the banks of rivers and ponds, along the State Highway and National Highway.

In this regard, Gumla’s DFO Ahmed Belal Anwar said that preparations for tree plantation have been completed by the Forest Department. Recently, during the 74th Van Mahotsav program, it was started by planting trees. The purpose of tree plantation is to maintain the balance in the environment. The Forest Department is making efforts to keep the environment balanced through tree plantation. But, the participation of common people is also necessary in this.
