jharkhand naxal news: Militant Santosh Ganjhu surrenders

Ranchi: Santosh Ganjhu, a member of banned militant organization TPC and carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, surrendered before Ranchi Police and CRPF on Friday. He was also given a check for the surrender amount. The accused militant is a resident of Siram of Budhmu police station area. On the occasion, a program was organized in Ranchi SSP office. During this, SSP told that Santosh Ganjhu had informed during interrogation that there was three acres of land in the village in the name of his father. That land was sold by his father. Due to this, the family members were left with nothing for survival. Earlier the accused used to live at home and work as a laborer to support his family. The first wife of the accused died in 2011.

Met Sub Zonal Commander Sagar Ganjhu in the year 2013

After the death of his wife, in 2013, the accused met TSPC Sub Zonal Commander Sagar Ganjhu, resident of the adjacent village Salay Tand. During this time, the militants were pressurizing the youth of the village to join the organization. Under this pressure, he joined Sagar Ganjhu’s squad. During this time he visited many villages to expand the organization. In the month of May 2015, railway line construction work was being done in Ganja village of Ormanjhi police station area, where he carried out the incident of firing for levy.

On the other hand, in 2015 itself, he had assaulted the clerk and laborers working there to collect levy at the crusher located in Ichadag of Ormanjhi police station area. In both these incidents, militants Sagar, Manish Mahato, Gopal Ganjhu, Taralal Gop, Manilal Mahato, Umesh Mahato, Bhola Mahato, Kishan Ganjhu, Mukesh Mahato and Aman Sahu etc. were involved with him.

Stayed in the organization for three years, then went to Rajasthan with his wife.

Santosh Ganjhu told that after being in the organization for about three years, he married Sabita Kumari, a resident of Murpiri village, and took her with him to Rajasthan. There he started working as a cock farm laborer in a place called Jhunjhunu. Many times the police also took confiscation action in his house. This information was given to him by the social workers of the village. Then he thought that he should surrender. Meanwhile, he came in contact with CRPF and police officers and surrendered.

Santosh Ganjhu has also appealed to his fellow Naxalites to surrender. He had come with his wife to surrender. His wife said that now she can live a peaceful life with her husband. The SSP further said that despite living in Rajasthan, Santosh Ganjhu used to stay in touch with the militants and work as a think tank for them.
