Jharkhand: Kolhan’s villages will be illuminated with electricity, Rs 250 crore will be spent, benefits of Chief Minister Ujjwala Yojana will be available.

Jamshedpur: The villages of Kolhan (East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Sarayekala-Kharsawan) of Jharkhand will be illuminated with lights. Electricity will reach every house, village, hamlet and locality. The government will spend Rs 250 crore on this work. Under the Chief Minister Ujjwala Yojana, there is a plan to electrify houses, villages, localities and hamlets by conducting surveys. A target has been set to provide electricity connections to all houses within a year. The maximum expenditure in this will be in West Singhbhum district. Maximum Rs 206 crore will be spent in West Singhbhum district, Rs 26 crore in East Singhbhum district and Rs 18 crore in Seraikela Kharsawan district.

The villages are in West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharsawan.

1,111 hamlets of 449 villages in West Singhbhum district have been identified. A total of 26,862 consumers have houses in these hamlets which do not have electricity connections. While 203 hamlets of 113 villages have been identified in East Singhbhum district, 2029 houses have not received electricity till date. Apart from this, there are 82 villages in Seraikela Kharsawan district, in which there are 136 hamlets. Electricity connections have not yet been made to the 2,180 houses living here.

The lines passing through the houses of Kolhan and Bans Bally, left out in the RDSS scheme, will also be electrified under this scheme.

Electrification work will be completed in one year

GM (Electricity) of Jamshedpur Area Board, Shravan Kumar said that the work of electrification of abandoned houses, villages and hamlets in the three districts of Kolhan will be completed in a year. The process of tender for selection of agency will be started soon.
