Jharkhand High Court serious about increasing pollution in Dhanbad city, directed to file affidavit

Jharkhand News: Jharkhand High Court Heard the PIL filed regarding prevention of increasing air, noise and coal pollution in Dhanbad city. A division bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice Anand Sen saw the reply filed by the defendant Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) and BCCL during the hearing of the case. The bench wanted to know from the JSPCB what other steps can be taken to stop the increasing pollution in Dhanbad. What is the plan with the board for that. Instructions were given to inform the court through an affidavit. The bench fixed the date of June 19 for the next hearing of the case.

What is in the reply filed by JSPCB and BCCL

Earlier, advocate Saimitra Baroi appeared on behalf of the applicant. He told the bench that Dhanbad is the most polluted city in the state. Concrete initiative is needed to stop pollution. Whereas, reply was filed on behalf of Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board and BCCL. The board accepted during the hearing that Dhanbad is one of the most polluted cities. Many steps have been taken to prevent pollution. The Bench was informed about the same. At the same time, it was told by BCCL that instead of dry drilling, wet drilling is being used for coal mining in the mines area, so that there is no problem of dust particles in the environment. Coal is transported by covering trucks, so that pollution is minimized.

Grameen Ekta Manch has filed a public interest litigation

Let us tell you that a public interest litigation has been filed on behalf of Prarthi Gramin Ekta Manch, Dhanbad. In the petition, a demand has been made to stop the increasing pollution in Dhanbad city. The applicant has said that if the air quality index of Dhanbad is seen, it is not good. The level of pollution is known by looking at the index. The applicant has said that the respondents do not even have any such data, so that it can be known that the pollution is reducing due to the steps taken by them.
