Jharkhand: High Court angry over not allowing Dhirendra Shastri’s Palamu program, Chief Secretary and DGP should be present

Ranchi/Palamu (Rana Pratap/Saikat Chatterjee): Jharkhand High Court The court of Justice Anand Sen heard the petition filed by Baba Bageshwar Dham Government Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri regarding permission for the proposed program from 10 to 15 February 2024 in Palamu. During the hearing, the side of the applicant and the state government was heard. The court expressed strong displeasure when Palamu Deputy Commissioner Shashiranjan did not grant permission to organize the event fearing law and order problems. The court said that it is the responsibility of the government to maintain law and order. The court asked why it was not disclosed as to what law and order problems would arise from Baba Bageshwar’s program? What is the basis of such apprehension? This is also not mentioned in the order. The Chief Secretary and DGP should be present virtually and tell what law and order problems will arise, which the administration will not be able to control. Superintendent of Police (Information) Special Branch will also remain there to explain. The court fixed January 17 for the next hearing of the case.

Law and order problems will arise

Earlier, the court was told on behalf of the applicant that once again the Deputy Commissioner of Palamu has not given permission to organize the program at Baba Bageshwar Dham, whereas on January 3, a detailed action plan was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner. The Deputy Commissioner has said in his order that there will be a crowd in Baba Bageshwar’s program. There is a possibility of law and order problems arising from this. Two lakh people will come. It will be difficult to arrange parking. Therefore permission to organize the event cannot be given. The applicant urged the court to give appropriate orders to the district administration regarding organizing the program. It is noteworthy that the petition has been filed again on behalf of the applicant Hanumanth Katha Organizing Committee, former mayor of Medininagar Aruna Shankar and secretary Dinanath Prasad.
