Jharkhand High Court angry over illegal sale of brown sugar and opium

Ranchi: Jharkhand High Court has taken seriously the rampant sale of brown sugar, opium and drugs in the state including the capital Ranchi. The division bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Arun Kumar Rai took suo motu cognizance of the case and converted it into a public interest litigation. The division bench orally said that the illegal drug trade in the state is worrying. The lives of youth are being ruined due to drug addiction. Addiction is affecting their health. Strict action should be taken against those involved in drug trade, so that this illegal trade can be completely stopped. The division bench directed the SSP of Ranchi to take strict action against those involved in drug trade.

The division bench has said that all the shopkeepers or other people involved in the drug trade in Sukhdev Nagar police station and other areas should be identified immediately and their arrest should be ensured. The division bench directed the state government to submit a report on the arrest of people associated with the drug trade. It is noteworthy that BollywoodWallah is continuously publishing reports against drug dealers of brown sugar, opium, ganja and other drugs. Recently, people selling brown sugar and ganja have also been arrested in Sukhdev Nagar police station area. Illegal drug trade is going on in other areas of the capital Ranchi also in the presence of police. Jharkhand High Court has taken the news published in the newspaper seriously.

High Court seeks report on cases related to women crime, extortion and land grabbing

Jharkhand High Court heard the PIL filed suo motu on the incident of gang rape of a Spanish speaking woman (Brazilian citizen) in Hansdiha, Dumka. During the hearing of the case, the division bench of Acting Chief Justice S Chandrashekhar and Justice Navneet Kumar expressed displeasure over the law and order situation in the state. After hearing the state government’s side, the division bench directed to improve law and order in the state. The state government was directed to provide information about incidents related to serious crimes like violence against women, land grabbing by land mafia, extortion etc. within the last one month. The division bench has fixed April 4 for the next hearing of the case.

Earlier, the draft of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) prepared by the state government for foreign tourists was presented before the bench. It has been told in the draft of SOP that two helpline numbers 112 and 181 have been created for the safety of foreign tourists and common people. There is also an app of 112, which will also have an SOS button to get immediate service.

Helpline number-181 has been created for foreign tourists. In the SOP, it will be mandatory for foreign tourists to inform Jharkhand Police before going to an unknown place. If foreign tourists come to India for more than 180 days, they have to get registered with FRRO.

While entering Jharkhand, foreign tourists will have to give information about themselves to the police at the check post, so that the police can guide them. Can make proper security arrangements for them. It is noteworthy that the incident of gang rape of a foreign woman took place on the night of March 1 in Hansdiha police station area of ​​Dumka. The victim was going towards Bhagalpur via Dumka on bike with her husband. Before the market in Hansdiha police station area, she pitched a tent and slept in a deserted place in Kurumahat at night. Meanwhile, some youth reached there and raped the woman. The High Court took this incident seriously.
