Jharkhand: ED files chart sheet against 3 associates of Birendra Ram, seeks reply on Chhavi Ranjan’s bail

Jharkhand News: The ED on Monday filed a charge sheet in the PMLA court against Neeraj Mittal, an aide of CA Mukesh Mittal of the suspended Chief Engineer of the Rural Development Department, Virendra Ram, hawala businessman Ram Prakash Bhatia and Tarachand, who had invested money in a fake company. The chargesheet was filed on Monday in the court of special PMLA judge PK Sharma.

Three accused are in jail

It is alleged that Neeraj Mittal, an associate of Virendra Ram’s CA Mukesh Mittal, used to send Virendra Ram’s black money to Tarachand for investment. Tarachand had got his one Aadhaar and four PAN cards made in a fake name. After this a company was formed. The money given by Virendra Ram to Mittal was invested in this company. After this, the said money was then transferred from the company to the account of Virendra Ram’s wife Rajkumari Devi and father Genda Ram. At the same time, Ram Prakash Bhatia used to send Virendra Ram’s money from Ranchi to Delhi through hawala. With the said money, Virendra Ram had bought a flat and other things in Delhi. All the three accused are currently lodged in jail under judicial custody.

Birendra Ram’s father and wife filed anticipatory bail petition

An anticipatory bail petition has been filed in the Jharkhand High Court on behalf of the wife and father of the suspended Chief Engineer of the Rural Development Department, Birendra Ram, accused in the money laundering case. He has requested the High Court to grant anticipatory bail. Earlier, the special ED court had refused to grant anticipatory bail to Birendra Ram’s father Genda Ram and wife Rajkumari Devi. His petition was rejected. The applicants have challenged the order of the lower court. It is noteworthy that ED had arrested Birendra Ram on 22 February. Earlier, raids were conducted at his 24 locations, from where documents related to acquisition of property including jewelery worth Rs 1.5 crore were recovered.

Answer sought from ED on bail plea of ​​former Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan

Jharkhand High Court’s Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi’s court heard the default bail petition filed by Chhavi Ranjan, former Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi, accused in the sale and purchase of land on the basis of fake documents. After hearing the side of the applicant during the hearing, the court directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file a reply. Orally said that if the investigation is going on in the matter, it should be completed soon. Along with this, the court fixed the date of September 11 for the next hearing of the case.

Charge sheet not filed on time

Earlier, advocate Indrajit Sinha, on behalf of the applicant, said that the charge sheet has not been filed by the ED within the stipulated time. That’s why they should get the benefit of bail. On the other hand, senior advocate Anil Kumar presented the side on behalf of ED. It is notable that the applicant former Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan has filed a petition and requested to grant default bail. The petition filed under Section-167 of CrPC has been challenged by the special court of ED. On May 4, the ED arrested Chhavi Ranjan, former Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi, in connection with the purchase and sale of land on the basis of fake documents. Earlier, on April 13, the ED had raided 22 locations of 18 people, including the then Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan, a revenue employee of Bargain.
