Jharkhand: ED calls money laundering accused Sanjay Tiwari’s claim in mid-day meal scam fake

Ranchi, Shakeel Akhtar: Sanjay Tiwari, accused of money laundering in the mid-day meal scam, had described himself in the Supreme Court as the owner of a tea garden spread over 300.03 acres. Also, by mortgaging it, he claimed to have borrowed Rs 15 crore at 1.25 per cent interest. He had also presented the details of the conversation through e-mail regarding mortgaging the tea garden. During the investigation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) found the tea garden to be non-existent and the e-mail conversation fake.

Sanjay Tiwari told the owner of the tea garden

Sanjay Tiwari had filed an intervention petition in the Supreme Court on February 22, 2023. In this, he described himself as the owner of a tea garden spread over 300.03 acres. His court was told the address of the tea garden and factory as ‘Hugrijan Tea Estate, Near Bor Dubi Road, Duliajan, Dibrugarh, Assam-785691’.

Sanjay presented the evidence of his claim in the court

Claimed that he had negotiated his tea garden with Rajesh Modi, Dinesh Modi, Ramesh Khemka and Ashok Khemka. These people also have ‘Jodhpur Tea Estate Industries Pvt Ltd’ in Dibrugarh itself. These people have agreed to give me a loan of Rs 15 crore at 1.25% monthly interest by mortgaging my ‘Hugrijan Tea Estate’. Mortgage deed has also been prepared for this. Sanjay had also submitted a copy of the mail conversation and agreement with Rajesh Modi in the court as proof of his claim.

ED team went to Assam to find out the truth

ED sent a team of officers to Assam to investigate the claims made by Sanjay Tiwari in the Supreme Court. During the investigation, the tea garden owned by Sanjay Tiwari was not found anywhere. ED officials also sought information from Khemka and Modi brothers in this regard. Modi and the Khemka brothers refused to consider or agree to the proposal to mortgage any tea garden, talk through phone or e-mail. These people refused to recognize Sanjay Tiwari. Along with this, in the case of forgery done by Sanjay Tiwari, he talked about registering an FIR against him.
