Chaibasa, Bhagirathi MahtoJharkhand’s West Singhbhum district court on Saturday sentenced 24 years to a man convicted of raping a minor. The court of First Additional District and Sessions Judge Om Prakash convicted the accused of Posco Act and sentenced him to 24 years. Along with this, a fine of Rs 15,000 has also been imposed. Accused Chandramohan Champia alias Chamra Champia is a resident of Raibeda under Goilkera police station area. It is being told that the minor was returning home after attending a wedding ceremony with her cousin. During this, she was raped. After this, the relatives lodged a case in the police station.
Returning home from wedding ceremony
This incident is of 11 February 2023. On February 16, 2023, a case was registered at Goilkera police station on the statement of the victim’s father. In the registered case, he had told that his 13-year-old daughter lived with her grandfather and uncle in the village. During the day on February 11, the victim had gone to the wedding ceremony along with her aunt and other family members. At around 5.30 pm, the victim was returning home on foot from a wedding ceremony with her cousin.

According to the victim’s father, she was returning home with her cousin after attending a wedding. At the same time, on the way near the underground culvert located at the railway line gate, accused Chandramohan Champia dragged the victim and raped her towards the bush. During this, the minor screamed a lot, but the accused did not leave her. He fled after committing the rape.
Cousin came home and informed the family
The cousin reached home running and informed her father about the incident. After this, the victim’s uncle went to find her and the victim was returning home crying. When asked the reason for crying, he told the incident. After this, a case was registered in the police station. Today, the court convicted the accused and sentenced them to severe punishment.
