Jharkhand cabinet meeting: Jharkhand cabinet meeting will be held today i.e. on April 27 from 4 pm. It will discuss how liquor will be sold in the state from May 1 and some decision is likely to be taken. A proposal to increase DA by four percent, amendment in appointment rules of many departments and six road projects may also come in the cabinet.

It is noteworthy that in the financial year 2022-23, the tenure of the placement agency selected to sell liquor in the state will end on 30 April. The new agency has to sell liquor from May 1. Jharkhand State Beverages Corporation Limited (JSBCL) has informed the excise department about the current situation regarding sale of liquor and how to sell liquor from May 1. The government has to take the final decision on whether the current agency can be given the responsibility of selling liquor from May 1. But at present, JSBCL has also given complete information to the department regarding the inability of retail liquor selling agencies to sell liquor according to the target, forfeiture of their bank guarantees. Now in such a situation, how liquor will be sold in the state from May 1 can be considered in the cabinet meeting to be held on Thursday.

Lottery system is being reconsidered

According to the information, the government is once again considering bringing a lottery system for liquor. For this, time till September can be given by the cabinet. In this arrangement, JSBCL will sell only wholesale liquor as before. Shops can be allotted through lottery system to sell retail liquor. For this, the department needs at least four months time. For this reason, the government itself will sell liquor till the month of September, so that preparations for the new system can be made. Godowns will have to be repaired in all 24 districts. It is also being talked about that in the districts where the tender has been done and the bank guarantees have been submitted, only the agencies can be given the responsibility of selling liquor till the month of September. In the remaining districts, the government itself will sell retail liquor.
