Jeevika Didis will get money for self-employment, urban poor women will get employment through livelihood scheme.

Madhubani. 10 thousand 657 poor women are benefiting from the livelihood scheme run for the destitute and poor. Through this scheme, very poor families are being provided financial assistance. At the same time, for the first time in 2023-24, poor women of urban areas will also get the benefit of Sustainable Livelihood Scheme. For this, a survey has been conducted in all the wards of the urban area. To provide employment to at least two to three poor women from all the wards, goods will be purchased in place of money for different small jobs in three installments.

People earning less than Rs 5,000 will get benefits

It should be noted that there are women in the wards whose income is close to Rs 5,000. There is no other source of income. Women who are poor other than Mahadalit, SC-ST. Who used to sell toddy in the past. They will also get the benefit of this scheme. After verification by Jeevika employee and officer, the amount of goods will be sent to the village organization. After which a purchasing committee will be formed and resources for employment will be made available.

You will get a maximum of Rs 1 lakh

It is known that there is a provision to give a maximum of Rs 1 lakh for employment under the scheme in urban and rural areas. But under three different SIS, microplanning, LIS, there is a provision to provide a total of ten thousand, twenty thousand and seven thousand, a total of thirty seven thousand. District Manager of Jeevika Mohd. Wasim Ansari said that for the first time poor women from an urban area have been searched under the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme. The survey work has also been completed. Selected women will be given the benefits of the scheme after verifying their livelihood.

Cabinet approval was given in November last year

This was announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the Legislative Assembly on November 7 last year, which was also approved by the Cabinet on November 7. Now the amount given under the scheme has been increased. The government has announced to increase the lump sum amount of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh for employment to unemployed families under the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme. Now Nitish government is spending more than Rs 30 billion on this scheme.

Extended to FY 26-27

In this, the government will provide the benefits of the scheme mainly to the people involved in selling and producing liquor and toddy. The scheme has been extended till financial year 26-27. In providing funds from the government, priority will be given to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Extremely Backward Class families.
