Jamshedpur-Ranchi lags behind in preventing pollution, Dhanbad’s efforts better, report of Clean Air Survey-2023

Ranchi, Manoj Singh: Serious efforts are not being made to stop pollution in three major cities of Jharkhand, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad. This is confirmed by the report of ‘Clean Air Survey-2023’ released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). In the survey report, in the list of 47 cities of the country with a population of more than 10 lakhs, Jamshedpur has got 42nd rank and capital Ranchi has got 38th rank. Whereas, Coal city Dhanbad is in a better position with 19th rank. Under the ‘National Air Control Program’, a campaign is being run by the Central Government to reduce the level of pollution in the country. For this, a phased survey has been started in 131 major cities of the country from this year itself. Its responsibility has been entrusted to CPCB. The first phase of this survey has started from 2022, which will run till 2026.
