Jairam Ramesh compared the new and old Parliament House
In his tweet, Ramesh has compared the old and new Parliament House. Ramesh said that binoculars would be needed to see each other in the new building, as the hall is not at all comfortable or compact. The old Parliament House not only had a special aura but it also facilitated conversation. It was easy to move between the houses, the central hall and the corridors. This weakens the engagement needed to ensure successful functioning of the new Parliament. Rapid coordination between the two Houses has now become extremely cumbersome. In the old building, if you were lost, you would find your way again because it was circular. In the new building, if you lose your way, you get lost in the maze. The old building gives you a feeling of space and openness whereas the new building is almost claustrophobic.
