Distributing sanction letters to beneficiaries under the ‘PM Swanidhi Se Samridhi’ program here, Sitharaman said officials of the municipalities should identify the excluded sidewalk vendors and help them avail the benefits of the scheme. . He said that with the aim of helping such sellers, the Central Government launched PM Swanidhi Scheme through banks to get loans.

Finance Ministry is reviewing the progress

Pointing to the comments of Department of Financial Services Secretary Vivek Joshi, Sitharaman said that if a bank gives a loan of up to Rs 10,000 to a beneficiary and if he pays it back on time, the loan amount increases to Rs 20,000. And if he pays back the loan amount increases to Rs 20,000. With time it is increased to Rs 50,000. Noting that the Finance Ministry is reviewing the progress of the scheme, Sitharaman said the reason for launching it in Rameshwaram was that Virudhunagar as well as Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu have been marked as ‘aspirational districts’ So that they can achieve developmental status.

Money is being given in the account to save from middlemen

Swanidhi to Samridhi program is an additional component of PM-Swanidhi scheme. In this, the eligible beneficiaries of the scheme and their family members are provided access to eight schemes of the Central Government for their overall development and socio-economic upliftment. Recalling the launch of the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity, the Finance Minister said that a beneficiary can open a bank account after obtaining the Aadhaar card and financial assistance can be sent directly to his account from the Center thereby enabling the beneficiary to Can avoid ‘middlemen’. He also referred to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s famous comment that even if the Center sends Rs 100 to a beneficiary, he gets only Rs 15 and the remaining Rs 85 goes into the pockets of ‘middlemen and others’.

Women are getting loans from Mudra

Sitharaman said in the context of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana that it was introduced to provide loans through banks especially to empower women entrepreneurs. He said that an important aspect of the scheme is that women who are running small businesses or are interested in starting a business can approach the bank and start their work by taking a loan from the PM Mudra Yojana scheme. Out of 100 people who will benefit through this scheme, 60 will be women. Under PM Mudra Yojana, women have been given top priority. Earlier in the day, the Finance Minister offered prayers at the famous Ramanathaswamy temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples. Later he participated in a similar program at the Government Medical College in Virudhunagar district. What is PM Mudra Yojana?

PM Mudra Yojana is a scheme run by the Government of India which is designed to provide financial assistance to small traders, apprentices, and entrepreneurs. Its main objective is to promote business and entrepreneurship among the economically weaker section of the society. In this, three main types of loans are provided. This includes loans applicable to small pamphlet businesses under Shishu loan, in which the maximum loan amount can be up to Rs 50,000. Kishor loans include loans for medium-sized businesses, the maximum amount of which can range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh. Whereas, Tarun loan includes loans for large pamphlet businesses, the maximum amount of which can range from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
