It drizzled throughout the day, there were clouds in the sky, know what the potato and wheat farmers are worried about.

Patna/Jamui. The cold has increased due to drizzle in many districts of the state including the capital Patna since Wednesday morning. People have started taking out warm clothes. Let us tell you that due to cloudy sky and drizzle throughout the day, the market road also remained empty. Due to this, the maximum temperature of the district was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was recorded at 19 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature will drop further on Thursday and the cold will increase. The sky remained covered with dark clouds the whole day on Wednesday. People could not see Lord Surya. People had to face a lot of problems.

Almost all crops benefit from this water

It is said that almost all crops will benefit from this water. However, it will be harmful for the farmers who sow wheat late. At this time, crops get the main nutrient nitrogen from rain water. Rain water is like nectar for all Rabi crops like sugarcane, wheat, potato, gram, mustard, peas etc. Regarding this, Sudhir Kumar Singh, head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, said that about five percent of the nitrogen present in nature along with rain water is fixed through physical process. Due to this, nitrogen becomes available naturally to all the crops along with water. Therefore, rainwater harvesting is considered more beneficial.

Farmers who sow wheat late will face problems

Sudhir Kumar Singh, head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, said that this drizzle is definitely worrying for some farmers. This includes those farmers who have not yet sown wheat. Delay in emptying the field or late sowing of wheat by a farmer who has already prepared the field will affect both its production and quality. Farmers should choose such a variety which can give good production if sown late.

There is a fear of frost due to increasing cold

The cold will increase due to rain. Due to increasing cold, there is a fear of frost to the potato crop. In this the potato crop gets burnt. There is no growth in potatoes. Due to this the yield reduces. However, Wednesday’s drizzle will not have any significant impact on the crops. But if there is excessive rainfall, there is a possibility of adverse effect on the crops.

If the temperature does not drop, there will be a loss of up to 15% of wheat crop.

The ideal time for sowing wheat is in its last stages. But, there is no favorable weather for this in Bihar yet. For wheat, the temperature should be around 22 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. But, the average temperature of Bihar is currently 30 to 32 degrees Celsius. If this weather condition continues, 10 to 15 percent of the yield will be affected. Germination of wheat will be less. Farmers will have to sow 120 seeds instead of 100. This will hurt them financially. The ears of wheat will be thin. Thin earrings will suffer a lot from the westerly wind in March.

If the temperature does not drop, only eight out of ten seeds will be effective.

Dr. CS Azad, junior scientist of the Department of Plant Diseases of Bihar Agricultural University, said that if the temperature does not drop, the process of formation of plants from seeds will be reduced. Only seven to eight seeds out of ten will be effective. Said that by this time there should have been fog in the morning, which was not happening. The timing of wheat harvest is also shifting. Now even if this happens by the first week of December, it will be fine. Because, due to late sowing, westerly winds will blow in March. This will cause great loss to wheat cultivation.

Soil moisture is necessary before farming

Dr. Azad said that moisture in the land is necessary before farming. There will be no problem in the field where wheat is to be cultivated after paddy. Empty fields need moisture. There should be about 60 to 65 percent humidity. In case of lack of moisture, it is necessary to cultivate the lines and water from above. If the temperature does not drop, there will be loss.

Farmers should increase the number of seeds

Dr. Azad said that the temperature situation is already known. Due to this the loss can be reduced. Where 100 seeds are to be sown, farmers should sow 120 seeds. Farmers should not leave the prepared fields vacant. Due to this the soil loses moisture.
