Jerusalem: Hundreds of patients fled after the Israeli army ordered the evacuation of Al-Shifa, the main hospital in the Gaza Strip. More than two thousand patients and displaced people were stranded in this hospital. According to the report of news agency AFP, Gaza health officials said that about 450 patients remained in Al-Shifa hospital. This hospital became the main center of the war. Israel claims that a military operation is being conducted inside the hospital because it is the operational center of Hamas. However, Hamas has completely rejected this allegation of Israel.
Israeli army issued order on loudspeaker
The report of news agency AFP said that the Israeli Army has issued an order on loudspeaker to evacuate Al-Shifa Hospital within one hour. Health officials said that hospital director Mohammed Abu was instructed by the Israeli military to make arrangements for the evacuation of patients, injured, displaced persons and medical staff. It was said by the army that the patients of the hospital should go towards the beach.
Air strikes continue in Gaza’s central and southern areas
According to the report, the UN estimated that 2,300 patients, staff and displaced Palestinians were sheltering in hospital al-Shifa. Israel instructed Palestinians to move towards the north of Gaza for their safety. Deadly airstrikes continue in the central and southern areas of Gaza. Israel’s National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi said that we have taken this step to stop the spread of the epidemic.
250 people hostage
Israel said most of the approximately 1,200 people killed were civilians and about 240 were taken hostage. About 12,000 people, including 5,000 children, have been killed in Gaza. The United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that 70 percent of residents in South Gaza do not even have access to clean water. It warns that dirty water from drains has started flowing on the roads. UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths told the UN General Assembly that the fuel supplied to the agency so far was a fraction of the amount needed to meet our minimum humanitarian responsibilities. More than 1.5 million people have been internally displaced in Gaza, while more than half of Gaza’s hospitals are no longer functioning.
