Iran Israel War: An elderly couple in Kozhikode district of northern Kerala is worried about the safety of their son, who is aboard an Israeli cargo ship in the Gulf region, and they are praying for his return. His son Shyamnath was among the 17 Indians aboard an Israeli cargo ship ‘MSC Aries’ which was seized by Iranian forces near the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. Shyamnath’s parents Vishwanathan and Shyamala said here that they had spoken to their son on Saturday also. Later he received a call from the Mumbai office of the shipping company, informing him about this tragic incident.
Son’s safety is troubling me
Vishwanathan told the media, we are going through difficult times. We are very worried about the safety of our son. Company authorities said they had not been able to contact the crew members after the ship was seized. Shyamnath, who hails from Velliparamba in this district, has been working as an engineer in ‘MSC Aries’ for the last 10 years. His parents said that Shyamnath had last visited his hometown last year.

Iran Israel War: Vishwanathan said that apart from Shyamnath, two persons from neighboring Palakkad and Wayanad districts are also included in the crew. He said that according to his information, apart from Indians, the crew members also include citizens of Philippines, Pakistan and Russia. Shyamnath’s mother cried while trying to talk to the media. Amidst the concerns, the family expressed hope that the Centre’s intervention would help in getting their son and his colleagues released soon.
25 crew members also included in the ship
Official sources had said on Friday that India has raised this issue with Iranian officials in both Tehran and New Delhi through diplomatic channels for the safety of its citizens and their immediate release. MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) said that it is working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of the 25 crew members and the return of the ship.
