Investigation into the property of former BDO of Silli started, ACB registered PE, know the whole matter

Ranchi: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a Preliminary Inquiry (PE) against former BDO of Silli Jageshwar Mahato on charges of acquiring assets beyond his income. Also, an in-depth investigation has been started regarding his property. ACB has taken this action on the instructions of the government. After finding evidence related to amassing of disproportionate assets during the investigation, ACB will take further action by taking permission from the government to register an FIR in the matter. During this period, ACB will make a complete assessment of their income and expenditure. After collecting information regarding income and expenditure, ACB can also send a notice and call them for questioning.

ACB had received information that Jageshwar Mahato had acquired property at various places while holding his post. When the ACB officials registered an IR in this regard and started verifying the case secretly, then the matter of acquiring disproportionate assets turned out to be true. But, there was a need for ACB to conduct an open investigation for verification. After this, a proposal was sent by ACB to the Surveillance Cabinet Department for permission to investigate the property of Mr. Mahato.
