Interstate smuggling gang busted in Bihar, two arrested with brown sugar and smack worth lakhs in Gopalganj

In Bihar’s Gopalganj, the Excise Police has busted an interstate smuggling gang with brown sugar and smack worth lakhs. Two smugglers from Gopalganj have been arrested by the police, who were smuggling drugs from UP and bringing them to Gopalganj. The matter of these smugglers being directly connected to Nepal has come to the fore. The police is probing the matter thoroughly. The seized drugs include 430 grams of smack and 50 grams of brown sugar.

During the investigation, the youth started running after seeing the police

Product Superintendent Rakesh Kumar told that vehicles coming from UP were being checked near Jalalpur Kurmi Tola of Kuchayakot police station area. During the investigation, two youths riding on an Apache bike started running away after seeing the product police. The police chased and arrested both the smugglers and when searched, drugs were found from them. 430 grams of smack was found from one smuggler, while 50 grams of brown sugar was found from another smuggler.

Police engaged in searching the records of the accused

On the other hand, the arrested smugglers have been identified as Dilip Ram, 30, son of Radha Ram, a resident of Madhu Sareya village, Manjha police station, Gopalganj, and Nitish Kumar, 20, son of Dilip Prasad, a resident of Purani Bazar, Manjha. Apart from drugs, an Apache bike has also been recovered from these smugglers. After inquiry in this matter, both the smugglers have been handed over to the police of Kuchayakot police station by the excise police. The police is now investigating the matter under the leadership of Kuchayakot police station co-trainee DSP Sakshi Rai. On the basis of interrogation of the arrested accused, the Kuchayakot police is trying to trace its backward and forward linkages.

Brown sugar is sold for two crore rupees per kg

The arrested smugglers told the police that brown sugar is sold in the market for up to two crore rupees per kg. Pudiya is made and sold from two thousand rupees to 3000 rupees. The estimated market value of the seized 50 grams of brown sugar is said to be Rs 10 lakh. Although the police of Kuchayakot police station is investigating it from their level.

One gram of smack is sold for 700 to 1000 rupees.

The arrested smugglers told the police that smack is sold at Rs 700 to 1000 per gram. Smugglers supply smack accordingly and then sellers sell it up to Rs.1500 per gram after making pudiya. The Excise Police has seized a total of 430 grams of smack from these smugglers, the estimated market value of which is said to be Rs 4,30,000.

Woman smuggler arrested with 90 bottles of Nepali liquor

Here, in Supaul, a joint patrol team of SSB 45th Battalion’s Outer Border Post Satna (Virpur) and Virpur Police seized a consignment of Nepali liquor being illegally brought from Nepal to India on the Nepal-India international border on Wednesday. Acting Commandant of 45th Corps, Jagdish Kumar Sharma said that information was received through sources that smuggling of prohibited goods is going to take place near border pillar number 203/01. Seeing the credibility of the information, a joint patrol team was formed under the leadership of SSB Sub Inspector Banshi Lal and started patrolling near the marked place to catch the smugglers. After some time, in this sequence, a woman who was coming from Nepal after crossing the border was stopped by the patrol team. When his goods were checked, 30 bottles of Nepali liquor Umanga, 60 bottles of Dilwale were seized. The seized liquor and woman smuggler have been handed over to the Virpur police.
