Inspector trapped in black deer hunting scandal in Sasaram, DIG dismissed from service

The then Chenari police station in-charge Shambhu Kumar has been accused in the famous black buck hunting case of Sasaram. On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the Forest Department team had recovered the horn of a black buck and five kilos of meat from a Scorpio vehicle parked in the Chenari police station premises. In this case, the Forest Department had also made the then police station in-charge Shambhu Kumar-2 an accused. He was also interrogated for a long time. After this, Shambhu Kumar was suspended by the SP. After suspension, departmental action number 140/23 was going on against Shambhu Kumar. After Shambhu Kumar was found guilty in the investigation report of this case, Shahabad Zone DIG Naveen Chandra Jha has dismissed the then Chenari Police Station Head from service with effect from February 1. DIG gave detailed information about this in a press conference held in his office room on Friday.

The police station chief had released the accused on PR bond.

The DIG said that on the basis of secret information, on September 15, 2023, at 4.30 pm, the SHO had arrested Raju Beg, father of late Kudus Beg, resident of the village along with the horn and meat of black deer from Lanji village of Chenari police station in Rohtas district. Despite bringing Raju Baig to the police station, no legal action was taken against him by the police station in-charge. Not only this, he did not even inform his senior officers about this and released the arrested Raju Baig on PR bond.

Forest Department had made seven people accused

The DIG said that two days later, on Sunday, September 17, 2023, the Forest Department team had recovered the horn of a black buck and five kilos of meat from a Scorpio parked in the Chenari police station premises. This incident was investigated by the SDPO and on his report the SP suspended the then police station incharge. After this, departmental proceeding number 140/23 was going on. In this case, the Forest Department had accused seven people including Chenari police station incharge Shambhu Kumar.

Sasaram SDPO was ordered to investigate

After getting information about the case, SP Vineet Kumar ordered Sasaram SDPO to investigate. In which SDPO found Shambhu Kumar-2 guilty of negligence in his duties by committing irregularities. After this, on the basis of the investigation report, the then police station incharge Shambhu Kumar-II was suspended and a departmental inquiry was initiated. In which Sambhu Kumar was found guilty.

In-depth investigation of the case

The DIG also said that the entire matter has been investigated in depth. In the investigation, the then Chenari police station in-charge Shambhu Kumar was found guilty on charges of gross negligence towards his duties, indiscipline, suspicious conduct, corruption and taking immoral benefits by misusing his position and he was dismissed from service with immediate effect.

Zero tolerance on corruption: DIG

DIG said that Bihar Police is working on the basis of zero tolerance on corruption. If any police personnel or police officer is found involved in any kind of corruption or suspicious activities, then strictest action will be taken against him.
