IndiGo orders 30 wide-body A350-900 aircraft

IndiGo: Airline IndiGo is currently operating only narrow-body Airbus aircraft. However, the company has leased two Boeing 777 aircraft from Turkish Airlines to operate on the Istanbul route.

Largest order placed by an airline at one time

The company said in a statement that by ordering 30 A350-900 aircraft, it will join the companies operating wide-body aircraft. These aircraft have Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. Indigo currently operates 350 aircraft. The company had placed an order for 500 aircraft with Airbus in June last year. This was the largest order placed by an airline at one time.

Revolution in Indian domestic air travel

Airbus said, IndiGo has agreed to order 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This will help expand IndiGo’s international network to long-haul destinations. Airbus described the deal as the beginning of a new chapter. Airbus said that Indigo has revolutionized Indian domestic air travel.
