India’s fugitive Babbar Khalsa activist ‘Landa’ declared terrorist by government, know why this step was taken

Lakhbir Singh: The government has declared Lakhbir Singh alias Landa, a Canada-based member of the banned organization ‘Babbar Khalsa International’, as a “terrorist” under the anti-terrorism law. According to an official notification, Lakhbir Singh was involved in the grenade attack on the headquarters of the Intelligence Branch of Punjab Police in May 2022. Apart from this, he is also involved in supplying explosives, arms and modern weapons from across the border to carry out terrorist acts in the country.

Lakhbir lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Lakhbir Singh is a resident of Harike in Tarn Taran district of Punjab and currently lives in Edmonton city of Albert, Canada. He is an activist of the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International. He has been involved in several criminal cases related to preparation of terrorist modules, extortion, murders, planting of IEDs, arms and drug smuggling and transaction of funds for terrorist activities in Punjab and other parts of the country.

Know why this step was taken

The government said that Landa and his associates were involved in a conspiracy to disturb the peace, law and order situation in Punjab by carrying out targeted killings and extortions and other anti-national activities in different parts of the country. A warrant and lookout notice has also been issued against Landa.

Lakhbir Singh is involved in terrorist activities

“The Central Government believes that Lakhbir Singh alias Landa is involved in terrorist activities and has been included as a terrorist in the Fourth Schedule of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,” the notification said. That as per the powers given under UAPA, he is declared a terrorist. Landa is the 55th person who has been declared a terrorist under this law.
