Patna. The team of the Income Tax Department’s Research Branch on Tuesday simultaneously raided 29 locations of Singhania Group in four states. Of the 29 locations under its ambit, 20 are in Jharkhand, while the remaining locations are in Bihar, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh. Raids have been conducted in Patna and Purnia in Bihar. Raids were conducted at warehouses located at Exhibition Road, Boring Road, Karbigahiya and Bypass in Patna.
Computer and other documents seized
At the same time, his office located in Gulabagh Mandi, Purnia has also been raided. Its owner is Jai Prakash Singhania. Income Tax Department sources say that computers and other documents have been seized from his office in Patna. At the same time, the Income Tax Department team is examining the documents found during the raid.
Input was also received from Central GST
Income Tax Department sources say that matching of GST returns and Income Tax returns is being done through Artificial Intelligence. In which a huge difference was found. On the basis of this, the Central GST Department had given input to the Income Tax Department about the Singhania Group. After that, the Income Tax Department has taken this action after confirming the information related to the Singhania Group evading income tax by hiding its actual business activities.
Chartered accountant firm of Singhania group also raided
The Income Tax Department has also included the chartered accountant firm of Singhania Group ‘Devki Vijay & Company’ in the scope of the raid. The office of this CA firm is also in a commercial building located on Mackie Road in Upper Bazaar, Ranchi. Raids have also been conducted at the locations of people associated with this CA firm. The Income Tax Department has also included three locations in Jamshedpur associated with the Singhania Group under the ambit of raids.
