In Muzaffarnagar, CBI nabbed two including an employee red-handed, making passports by taking bribe

Lucknow : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two people, including an employee of Passport Seva Kendra, from Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that both had allegedly taken bribe to get passports made. This information has been given by the CBI on Monday. The accused arrested by the CBI have been identified as Ankush Kumar, an assistant at the Passport Seva Kendra in Muzaffarnagar, and Farhan, another person.

According to information, on July 4, Abhishek Kumar, a resident of Mirzatila, Muzaffarnagar, lodged a complaint with the CBI that he had applied online for a passport on May 1 at the passport office in Muzaffarnagar. After this he got the date of appointment. He submitted his documents on 19th June and completed other formalities. But Abhishek’s passport was not being issued.

Bribe was sought in the name of making a passport

Complainant Abhishek said that on July 3, when he went to the office to inquire about the passport, Ankush and Farhan demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000. Told me that your passport will reach home in 10 days. Otherwise the file will get stuck. I have already deposited my passport fee, so I don’t want to pay bribe. The Passport Seva Kendra at Muzaffarnagar is an extension desk of the Passport Office at Ghaziabad. The officer said that the CBI laid a trap and arrested the accused while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. The official said that the residential premises of the accused are being searched.

Evidence of extortion from people

The CBI is probing the horoscope of Ankush, who was caught taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the passport extension desk. If sources are to be believed, apart from the complainant, evidence of extortion of money has come to the fore from many people in the name of issuing passports. CBI has started investigation on all aspects.
