At the same time, even a little carelessness is costing people dearly. Even before Rakshabandhan on Wednesday, the lamps of many houses were extinguished. More than a dozen people died due to drowning while many are missing.
Driver sleeping on handcart rolled and fell into Saidpur canal, died due to drowning
Handcart driver Mintu Sharma alias Nakku died after falling into Saidpur canal without boundary wall in Patna at around ten o’clock on Tuesday night. The incident happened near Rampur Yadav Lane. It is said that tired Nakku had put a handcart on the banks of the canal and slept on it. Due to change of direction in deep sleep, he fell into the drain and got stuck in the mud and drowned. With the help of diver Rajendra Sahni, the Bahadurpur police retrieved the driver’s body from the canal on Wednesday. There is a lot of anger among the local people after this incident. Police Station President Yogesh Chandra said that the dead body of the drowned handcart driver has been handed over to the relatives after getting the post-mortem done. Nakku has a wife Soni Devi and three children.
Two bike riders fell while crossing the siphon in Araria, missing due to drowning
Two youths riding an uncontrollable bike fell and went missing while crossing Saiphon on Wednesday night near Ward 3 Madhura North Saiphon of Nagar Panchayat under Phulkaha police station of Narpatganj block area of Araria. As soon as the information was received, hundreds of people reached and searched for the drowned bike rider. As soon as the information was received, apart from Narpatganj police station and Phulkaha police station, dozens of villagers conducted searches. But the two missing youth could not be recovered till late night. According to the information, two youths riding a bike were going from Phulkaha towards Narpatganj on Wednesday night. While crossing Ward Three Main Canal Canal Siphon of Narpatganj Nagar Panchayat, the bike fell uncontrollably into Siphon. Both are missing since the incident. Both the missing youths are said to be from Manikpur.
Child dies due to drowning in pond in Samastipur
A child died due to drowning in a pond located in Bahadurpur Patori village of Shahpur Patori block area in Samastipur. According to the information received, Aditya Kumar, son of Gangoram, resident of Bahadurpur Patori village, was playing near the pond near his house for three years. During this time his foot slipped and he went into the deep water of the pond. Due to which he died. Patori police, who reached the spot after receiving information about the incident, took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. Meanwhile, a teenager who had gone to take bath near Baba Kewal Sthan of Musapur Panchayat of Ghatho OP area, died due to drowning in the Noon river. The deceased has been identified as Sunny Kumar (14), son of Shambhu Rai, resident of Lagma village of Moosapur Panchayat. Family members told that around 11 am on Wednesday, Noon had gone to take bath in the river with his friends. Meanwhile, a jump was taking place from the iron bridge. Sunny was the first to jump into the river. After that his other companions jumped over him. Because of which he got buried. He could not come out because he was buried in water. His other companions started making noise when he did not come out of the water. People nearby reached the spot and searched. But, could not find out. Later, after a lot of effort with the help of local divers, the body of the said teenager was taken out from the river.
Body of teenager drowned in Budhi Gandak river was found 40 km away in Pusa.
The body of teenager Sandeep Kumar (17), who drowned in the Budhi Gandak river at Sikandarpur Ghat in Muzaffarpur, was recovered after 56 hours in Pusa, about 40 km away. The dead body was found on the river bank. The SDRF team was also engaged in the search since Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, information about the recovery of the dead body was received from the local people. Kishore Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Pakdi of Sadar police station area, had gone with his villagers to do water bathing at Seedhi Ghat on Monday. Seeing people already taking bath there, he also went to take bath. During this time, he along with one of his friends had gone into deep water.
A young man taking bath in Fatuha drowned in Ganga.
Jethuli Ganga Ghat under Nadi police station area of Fatuha, while taking bath in the Ganga on Wednesday, a young man drowned after being swept away in the strong current of the Ganga. The youth who drowned in the Ganga was identified as Rajkumar, a resident of Patna City Malsalami, who is a tempo driver. Rajkumar had come from Patna City home with his family in a tempo to take bath at Jethuli Ganga Ghat. While taking bath the prince was swept away in the strong current of Ganga. As soon as the information was received, Nadi police station reached the spot and informed the Patna SDRF team. Even after a day-long search operation, the team could not recover the body of the youth who drowned in the Ganga.
Two teenagers who went to take bath in the canal in Gopalganj drowned in the strong current of water, missing
Two teenagers, who had gone to take bath in the canal in Savanhi Patti Bhanpur of Phulwaria block of Gopalganj on Wednesday, drowned in the strong current of water. In the evening, both the teenagers along with their four other friends reached the siphon of Hathua canal passing through the village and started taking bath. Meanwhile, he started taking bath amidst the strong stream of water coming out from the siphon. Both drowned due to the strong current of water. The rest of the companions made noise seeing this. No clue of the teenagers could be found.
Youth dies due to drowning in river in Darbhanga
Rahul Kumar, 24, son of Nageshwar Sahni died due to drowning in the river of Adhwara group in Ladha village of Darbhanga on Wednesday. Police reached the spot after receiving information about the dead body late in the evening. It is said that the body of a dead animal was stuck in the bush on the banks of the river, which was giving off a foul smell. The young man was trying to free the dead body of the animal from the bush with the help of a bamboo stick and throw it in the stream of the river. In this sequence, he himself slipped and got swept away in the river current. Police Station President Amit Kumar told that information has been received about the body being found. Will be sent to DMCH for post mortem.
Eight year old child dies due to drowning in Katihar
An eight-year-old boy died on Wednesday due to drowning in ward one of Arihana Panchayat of Azamnagar block area of Katihar. According to the information, the deceased boy Pritam Kumar Sharma, father Rupesh Sharma is being told. There was an uproar among the family due to the death of the child. Relatives told that while taking bath in Giddi Dhar near the village, the child went into deep water. This resulted in death due to drowning.
Girl died in Supaul
A four-year-old girl died after drowning in a pit next to her house on Wednesday afternoon in Chandragarh village of Ward 08, Kamrail Panchayat of Marona police station area of Supaul. Regarding the incident, the girl’s father, resident of Chandragarh village, told that a pit was dug next to the house with a JCB. In which his four year old daughter Anisha Khatoon fell while playing. The girl’s body was taken out from the pit. There was chaos among the victims after the incident.
