Bareilly. Bareilly Municipal Corporation of Uttar Pradesh is very important. Once again BJP, SP, Congress and BSP are trying to win the mayor’s seat here. But, in the year 2000, Dr. IS Tomar, who sought ticket from BJP, did not get the ticket. Due to this he rebelled from BJP. He rebelled against the BJP and joined the ranks as an independent. In this election, Dr. IS Tomar defeated BJP’s city head (mayor) and candidate Subhash Patel by a long margin. After this he became mayor for the first time. He became mayor for the second time in the year 2012 by winning the election on SP ticket. However, in the year 2017, BJP candidate Umesh Gautam defeated him by a margin of about 12 thousand votes. In the 32-year history of the Municipal Corporation, the BJP has won 3, the SP 2, and the Congress once. But, the BSP elephant has never been able to run here.
The city chief was made in Bareilly in 1989
Bareilly Municipal Corporation of Uttar Pradesh was the first Municipal Corporation. The chairman used to be made from here. Municipal Corporation was formed in the year 1989. But, at that time there was the post of city head instead of mayor. The city chiefs used to elect councilors instead of electing them directly from the public. In 1989, BJP’s Rajkumar Agarwal became the first city head of Bareilly Municipal Corporation. After this, in the year 1995, this seat went to backward caste (OBC). Due to which BJP’s Subhash Patel registered a victory. He became the head of the city.
Dr.IS Tomar First Mayor
In Bareilly Municipal Corporation, in the year 2000, the post of mayor was replaced by the city head. Even at that time the seat was in OBC. Dr.IS Tomar was seeking ticket from BJP. But, he did not get the ticket. Due to which he became a rebel. He lashed out against the BJP. He became the first mayor by defeating BJP candidate city chief Subhash Patel.
Supriya Aaron first woman mayor
In the year 2005-06, the mayor seat of Bareilly Municipal Corporation became normal for women. Congress’s Supriya Airan won by defeating BJP’s Sanjana Jain by a long margin. She became the first woman mayor.
Re-elected mayor in 2012
The Mayor seat of the Municipal Corporation became normal in the year 2012. Dr.IS Tomar from SP contested the election from SP. He defeated Gulshan Anand of BJP. But, in 2017, Mayor Dr. IS Tomar lost the election to BJP candidate Umesh Gautam.

Bareilly Municipal Corporation has 13 contenders for the Mayor seat. However, from here BJP candidate outgoing mayor Umesh Gautam and two-time mayor Dr. IS Tomar is believed to be contesting from here. He is contesting as an independent with the support of SP.
